Emotional Dysregulation

When Reactions Outrun the Moment.

Emotional dysregulation is what it looks like when feelings arrive faster and bigger than the situation calls for, and take longer to come back down. A small frustration becomes a flood. A hard conversation becomes a shutdown. It can show up alongside many conditions or stand on its own, and it is exhausting to live with.

It affects relationships, work, and the trust a person has in themselves. Regulation is a skill, and skills can be learned. Through evidence-based therapy and practice in a supportive setting, the gap between trigger and response widens, and choice returns to the moment.
