Histrionic Personality Disorder

When Being Seen Feels Like Survival.

Histrionic personality disorder involves a persistent need for attention and approval, emotions that are intensely expressed and quick to shift, and relationships that feel closer than they are. It is often misread as vanity or drama. Underneath is usually a deep uncertainty about being valued for who one is.

The pattern can leave relationships unstable and the person exhausted by the effort of performing. Therapy offers something different: a place to be known without an audience. Over time, self-worth becomes less dependent on the reaction of others and more rooted in a steady sense of self.
